2020 - Porcelain Chrome-Tin Pink Tiles

When the pandemic started in 2020, I spent my days making these tiles. I was exploring line qualities in clay. I used a pin tool to incise lines into a clay slab and filled them with slip clay mixed with chromium oxide. When the clay became semi-dry, I used a trimming tool to scrape off the excess slip, revealing the inlaid lines. Then, I applied a glaze containing tin oxide and fire to high temperature. Tin oxide causes chromium oxide to turn pink.
