Corresponding Project

I decided to make a calendar of three things that I have trouble dealing with in my life; anxiety, menstruation, and my mother.
My mother, 72 years-old, had been afraid of technology but finally purchased her own cell phone and started to communicate with me more often. I wanted to map out my relationship with my mother in the context of game. The game could be a metaphor of a relationship between people. White dots; when my mother contacted me, black dots; when I contacted her.

I am also interested in how an individual mark creates community or cluster patterns, and how each small dot affects the picture as a whole. Metaphorically speaking, dots tell me how small role of the individual could make an impact within larger context.

I decided that an oil painting makes the most visually engaging surface because I wanted to create a discrepancy between content and visual quality. I simply mapped out relationship with my mother as a traditional(serious looking) oil painting.
